Our Environment

Climate change is the most pressing problem we face in the world today. Every time we turn on the TV or read the news the effects of climate change and the impact of global warming are all too clear. Whether it is lethal storms and floods in New Orleans, disappearing glaciers and fatal heat waves in mainland Europe, or severe droughts in Africa. Even on our own doorstep the impact of global warming is difficult to ignore with plants and flowers blooming earlier year on year and freak weather conditions more and more common.

Because of this, it is important that we all do everything we can to help conserve energy and cut back on our emissions in order to tackle this problem. Throughout this parliament I will be making the environment a key issue for my work both in the constituency and at Westminster.

The Liberal Democrats pride ourselves on being a green party with our policies having a green backbone running through them. Check out this section of the website to keep up to date with my ‘green’ activities in parliament and in the constituency and to find useful information on the things we can all do to improve our environment.
