the Dalai Lama to Westminster on his visit to the UK in May 2008.

I was first elected as an MP in 2001. Prior to this I served
two terms as the local Councillor for Edinburgh’s South East Corstorphine

I succeeded Liberal Democrat Donald Gorrie as the MP for Edinburgh
West. He had served as the constituency’s MP for four years after
winning the seat from the Conservative party in 1997.

Which Edinburgh High School did I attend?
Answer
I attended Forrester High School. In fact, I recently made
a visit to my former high school to chat to the pupils about my work as an

Answer
Edinburgh Castle. The constituency of Edinburgh West stretches
from South Queensferry in the west to Haymarket near the city centre. The
Firth of Forth marks the northern boundary and the Edinburgh-to-Glasgow railway
lines the south. Landmarks include the Forth Bridges, Edinburgh Airport,
the Gyle Shopping Centre, Edinburgh Zoo and Murrayfield Stadium. There
are about 100000 people in the constituency.
