Barrett welcomes Edinburgh boundary enquiry
John Barrett, Scottish Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West, today welcomed the news that the Boundary Commission for Scotland will be holding a public inquiry into their proposals to change Edinburgh's constituency boundaries.
John Barrett MP said:
"The Commission were clearly facing a difficult task in reducing the number of parliamentary constituencies in Scotland and here in the capital.
"However, the Commission came up with a set of new boundaries which split up natural communities like Corstorphine and created a 'hotch potch' of constituencies containing no natural cohesion.
"The large number of representations they have received from across Edinburgh clearly shows the depth of feeling amongst the public. Hopefully, this inquiry will allow the Commission to come up with a set of new proposals which respects Edinburgh's natural communities."
