Barrett delighted at Corstorphine tree return

John Barrett, the Scottish Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West, will attend the planting ceremony on Friday at 1.30pm of the Corstorphine Fair  Christmas Tree.

The original tree, planted to coincide with the millennium was destroyed by vandals just before Christmas last year, as the community prepared for its Christmas celebrations.

The new tree, a gift from the Forestry Commission, will be planted on Friday and it is hoped that in the years to come the tree will become as famous as the Corstorphine Sycamore Tree and a future emblem of Corstorphine.

In a statement, John Barrett said:

"I am delighted to be attending the ceremony and look forward to seeing the new tree as a feature of the Village green and which will be used as a focus for the community's annual  Christmas events."
