John Barrett promotes diabetes testing

John Barrett MP visited Lloyds Pharmacy on Pennywell Road today to promote testing for diabetes.
 
Lloyds provide a walk-in service that enables people to have their blood sugar levels tested on the spot. Mr Barrett spoke with the manager of the branch about the merits of the service and was then tested.

In a statement, John Barrett said:
 
"I have become particularly aware of this issue following a recent accident involving the family car. We were hit by another car, the driver of which suffered a hypoglycemic seizure.
 
"Fortunately nobody was seriously injured. I realised that this was something that I needed to find out more about. I am glad to report that my blood sugar levels are fine."
