Pay restraints in public sector must focus on the fat cats
Commenting on the Public Sector rich list released by the Tax Payers’ Alliance today, John Barrett MP for Edinburgh West, said:
“With 806 public sector employees taking home more than £180m a year between them, it is clear that even in these difficult times, profligacy at the top of the public sector lives on.
“After more than a year in recession this country can ill afford fat cat levels of public sector pay.
“As we tackle the structural deficit there will have to be serious public sector pay restraint. This must be focused most severely on those at the top and not those on the front lines at lower pay levels.”
