Barrett backs pensioners’ victory

Commenting on the news that workers who lost their company pensions have won their High Court case against the Government, John Barrett, MP for Edinburgh West, said:

“This is fantastic news for the pensioners who have been let down by the government and have had to fight for justice.

“This is just the latest indictment of the Government’s disgraceful attempts to duck out of paying compensation, after the Ombudsman’s Report and the Public Administration Select Committee Report.

“Ministers must now accept their moral responsibility and set out how fair compensation will be paid to those who lost their pensions after Government maladministration.

“If the Government refuses to act after this decision, the Liberal Democrats will table an amendment to the Pensions Bill forcing them to act.”
