What does John’s work in the constituency involve?
I spend about half of my time in my constituency and the other half at Westminster. This normally involves flying down to London early in the week and flying home on a Thursday night. I have a constituency office in West Edinburgh with one full-time and three part-time members of staff.
When I am in the constituency I hold regular surgeries and try to visit as many groups, organisations, schools and community events as possible. If you are aware of something that you would like me to attend please contact me and I will do my best. For example, recently I helped “Beachwatch” clean up the beaches at Cramond and Queensferry as part of a national campaign by the Marine Conservation Society and hope to help again in the future. I have also been pleased to help promote other local events or campaigns.
